D&D 30-Day Challenge – Day 14

D&D 30 Day Challenge

Day 14 – Favorite NPC

We have to go WAY back to the Frank Mentzer D&D basic set for this one: BARGLE.

Bargle was a wizard, ahem, magic-user, you encountered in the solo adventure that taught you how to play. You encounter him in the dungeon and not only does he (spoilers!) kill the cleric you’ve befriended, he tries to charm you! At 1st level, many PCs fail this roll and you walk right out of the dungeon helping the bad guy carry his loot. He’s the NPC you love to hate.

I named a character in my Foundation of Drak-Anor fantasy duology after him, though he’s not a human magic-user. My Bargle is a golguthron; my version of an otyugh.
